Central Scotland is one of the eight electoral regions of the Scottish Parliament which were created in 1999. As a result of the First Periodic Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries the boundaries for the region and consituncies where
redrawn for the 2011 general election.
Ten of the parliament’s 73 first past the post constituencies are sub-divisions of the region and it elects seven of the 56 additional-member Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs).

Tickets for BBC elections hustings on Aberdeen Central
The hustings programme in Aberdeen is ahead of the Scottish Parliament electionsTickets are being offered for a BBC Radio Scotland hustings programme in Aberdeen ahead of the Scottish Parliament elections.
Aberdeen Central is expected to be one of the most keenly-contested constituencies.
An audience will get the chance to question the main candidates on some of the key issues.
It will be recorded at the University of Aberdeen on Sunday 17 April, for broadcast the next day.
